To be entitled to a pension, you must have contributed at least 180 monthsverified on 09/10/2026 to the CASS retirement branch (the Andorran social security fund), including at least 12 months in Andorra. You must not be in work (apart from exceptions) and you must apply for it: it is not automatic.

What if you have contributed little?

Between 5 and 15 years of contributions, the CASS provides a retirement lump sum paid in one go at 65, with no associated health cover. The right to this lump sum lapses three years after reaching 65.

Is a reform planned?

The CASS has put forward a reform proposal raising the age to 67 gradually. It has not been adopted as of the date this page was checked.

An example of counting the months

An employee who starts contributing at 25 reaches 180 monthsverified on 09/10/2026 of contributions (15 years) at 40 and 480 monthsverified on 09/10/2026 (40 years) at 65: early retirement from 61 yearsverified on 09/10/2026 therefore requires a full career that began early. Early retirement is reduced by 7 %verified on 09/10/2026 per year of early retirement.

The lump sum instead of the pension

Between 60 monthsverified on 09/10/2026 and 179 monthsverified on 09/10/2026 of contributions, the CASS pays a lump sum rather than a pension. A minimum of 12 monthsverified on 09/10/2026 of contributions in Andorra is required.

For a French citizen

The Andorran pension is added to the French pension if you have contributed in both countries: coordination and taxation depend on your residence: see pensions and living your retirement.

What does not change

A retiree's passive residency does not require contributing to the CASS, but it does require health cover valid in Andorra: see health and insurance.
