The short answer
An Andorran residency application brings together identity documents, a criminal record certificate, proof of housing, health insurance, proof of resources and the documents specific to the status. Timeframes and fees vary: the values currently in force are shown with their date.
Document checklist (template)
The exact list depends on the status. Here is the usual core, to be compared with the official form of the day:
| Document | Note |
|---|---|
| Valid passport or identity card | Certified copies if requested |
| Passport photos | Official format |
| Criminal record extract | Recent; allow time to obtain it |
| Proof of housing in Andorra | Lease or title deed |
| Health insurance certificate | Cover valid in Andorra |
| Proof of resources | Statements, tax notices, contracts |
| Birth certificate / family record book | For the spouse and children |
| Documents specific to the status | Activity authorisation, proof of investment… |
| Bank certificate | Account opened or in progress |
Verified timeframes and costs
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Application fee | Amount set by the administration, to be confirmed at filing |
| Processing time, active residency | Not guaranteed; to be asked of the immigration department at filing |

Timeframes
No official source publishes an average processing time. Applications are processed in chronological order of arrival, and several statuses first go through a reservation with deadlines to prove the conditions (see self-employed residency). A local adviser can give an estimate based on recent files.

Frequently asked questions
How much time should I allow?
The timeframe depends on the status and on how complete the file is. The verified indicative processing time is shown in the table on this page; add the time needed to gather the documents.
Do French documents have to be translated?
Documents written in French are in practice often accepted, but this must be confirmed for each document. For other languages, a translation may be required.
Do the documents need to be apostilled?
Some documents may require legalisation or an apostille. Check case by case in the official list.
What happens if the file is incomplete?
Processing is delayed, or even suspended, until the file is put right. A checklist avoids this loss of time.
Can I submit the application without housing?
Housing (a lease or title deed) is one of the usual conditions. Organise your search in parallel.
